How InstaViewer works

InstaViewer is a lightweight, privacy-minded, browser-based Instagram downloader. Paste a public link → we parse what Instagram exposes → you pick the best available variant (HD when available) → download to your device. No login. No app installs.

The 4-step flow

  1. Paste a public Instagram link (post, Reel, audio page, Story, Highlight, or profile). From the Instagram app, tap ⋯ → Copy link. For profiles, you can also paste @username.
  2. We parse the URL and request the publicly available metadata for that link. If Instagram exposes multiple media variants (different resolutions/bitrates), we list them.
  3. You select a variant — e.g., the highest available video quality, a photo from a carousel, or audio from a Reel (when exposed on the public link).
  4. Download happens in your browser. Files save to your device’s default downloads folder. See Device Tips if you can’t find them.

Notes: Availability and quality depend entirely on the original upload and what Instagram exposes for the public URL.

Privacy & limitations

  • Public-only: InstaViewer works with content that Instagram exposes publicly. Private/expired links are unsupported.
  • No login required: Everything runs in your browser. We don’t ask for credentials.
  • No data hoarding: We don’t store your private data or require accounts.
  • Respect creators: Keep downloads for personal/research use unless you have permission to share.

How we handle quality

When Instagram provides multiple variants for a public URL (e.g., different resolutions or bitrates), we surface them so you can choose. If there’s a single variant, that’s what you’ll get. We never “upscale” — we preserve what’s available.

Do I need to log in?

No. InstaViewer is browser-based and does not require any account login for public links.

Can I get HD quality?

Yes, when Instagram exposes an HD variant for the public URL. We always keep the highest available option.

Why is audio missing?

Some posts are muted or provide audio separately. Try Reels Music for audio-only when available.
